England legend Courtney Lawes has taken like a duck to water with new club CA Brive in French Rugby’s second division the Pro D2.
Starting with back-to-back wins to open their campaign, Brive proved that they are going to be one of the team’s to beat this season.
Securing the win in dramatic fashion against Soyaux-Angoulême XV 28 – 25 in round two, Brive have the former Northampton Saint to thank for the victory.
Tracking back as he has done all throughout his career, Lawes made crucial tackle to stop Soyaux-Angoulême XV’s replacement hooker from scoring.

This moment ensured his team shot up towards the top of the Pro D2 table before a narrow loss in round three has knocked them down a notch.
Still this moment further highlights just how effective Lawes remains at the tail-end of his career.
